Starting Off: Bronzer

I seem to be running a week behind on #theSOproject lately! Though I do have a good excuse this time as I was prepping for my surprise trip to London that was organised by my lovely boyfriend for my birthday present! I got the train down on Thursday and met him at St Pancras where he whisked me away to a lovely 4* hotel where we got upgraded to an executive room! Another part of my surprise was tickets to see Phantom of the Opera on Friday night, which was absolutely mind blowing! The rest of the time was spent sight seeing, shopping on Oxford St and generally wandering around taking in the atmosphere, it was a lovely trip and I can't believe he managed to keep it all a secret from me! Maybe I'll do a proper blog post on it with a few of my pictures.

Anyway, back to business! We have already covered Concealer and Foundation in previous weeks, which help to create an even canvas, Bronzer is then used to add shadow and contours to your face, as well as a lovely sun-kissed glow. As someone with dreadfully pale skin, I like to use bronzer to add some colour to my face and help to define my round completely undefined face! I do wish I had natural killer cheekbones, but at least with bronzer I can fake them a little!

Now you can get different types of bronzers, with different shades to suit different skin tones - also some are shimmery and some are matte. Now matte bronzers and shimmery bronzers are used to achieve different looks, so I'm going to go into what they are used for and how they are applied in a little more detail - each with an example of bronzers that I currently own.

Starting Off: Foundation

It's week 4 of #theSOproject and this is going to be a double bill as I have been incredibly busy and didn't have time to finish my foundation post from last week! So this will be my first post this week for last weeks edition and then there will be this weeks regular post as well! We are a few weeks into the project now and it's been fantastic so far to talk with the bloggers who are taking part and to find other opinions and reviews on different products that I know and some that I don't! It's really opened my eyes to how broad the spectrum of beauty products is and convinced me I should be more open to try products and brands that I haven't gone for before. Last time I touched upon concealers and this week I am going to build upon this and talk about foundations.

Foundations are a make-up basic and help to cover flaws, improve the look of skin quality and to create an even complexion. There are many different foundations with varying levels of coverage and are suited to different skin types. In recent years, Primers, BB and CC creams have been developed to further perfect the skin's appearance and these can be worn underneath foundation so that foundation's have an even surface to be applied to or they can be worn by themselves for a light coverage and a quick fix to improve the look of complexions. I am going to share with you my collection of foundations, primers, BB and CC creams, their different levels of coverage, suitability for skin types and what different factors they aim to provide to a consumer.

Outfit Of The Day // 8th September

Necklace - Boohoo £6

I can't believe it's been so long since I've done an outfit of the day post! I seem to have been so busy lately, I think working full time is taking it's toll and when I get home I don't really feel like I look particularly great! And this is the first weekend in a month that I haven't had to do anything, I've been to V festival and then up to Manchester the past 2 weekends running - one for a girls night out and one to celebrate mine and my boyfriend's 2 year anniversary with an amazing weekend at the Hilton in Deansgate and dinner at Rio Ferdinand's restaurant Rosso  - I've been a very busy bee!  I literally haven't had any down time to really focus on my blog, as you have probably noticed the lack of posts when compared to July, I'm really going to try and organise myself better and schedule some posts for when I know I'm going to be busy.

Anyway, back to the outfit; this weekend has been absolute bliss as I haven't had to do anything or go anywhere; plus it was my first time in over a month I have been able to have a lie in so I feel nice and relaxed. Even though I have been around the house all day, I really wanted an excuse to wear my brand new ASOS skort, so I thought I'd dress up for the hell of it!

I really am loving the skort at the minute - and so does the rest of the bloggersphere! The skort has become the surprising cult item in recent months. I saw this one on ASOS and I just loved the colour, I seem to buy a lot of this dark pink colour - I have some tailored trousers in the exact same colour so I knew I had quite a few garments that would match with it. I have had the blouse for about 6 months but I haven't really worn it for a while, but I think it goes well with this skort, I think it would make a suitable look for work as well. I'm also thinking of wearing this blouse with my white Zara skort and new white jacket to try a more chic and polished look. I've had my cut out boots a few weeks now and you rarely see me out of them! The heel is quite small, so I can last the whole day in them comfortably and they bring any outfit up to date with the cut out straps. Until I can afford Jeffrey Campbells I'll be sticking with these bad boys.

These midi rings from ASOS are a new addition to my jewellery collection and I really do love them, even though they only fit on my ring and little fingers! Even though I bought the bigger size, I can't get them much further past the nails on my other fingers - sigh! Maybe I should try the ASOS Curve rings as I must have bigger than average fingers, though I'm pretty sure they aren't that big? I dunno. This necklace from Boohoo is one I bought a few weeks ago and is my latest statement necklace. I love anything geometric and I like to wear this one under collars or just over the top of the neckline to add some extra detailing to an outfit.

What do you think of my latest outfit post, would you like to see more of my outfits? If people would like to see more I would try my best to post some more!

Amie xx

The Lust List #1

Untitled #6
Window shopping has to be one of my favourite past times, I adore poring over the latest collections, getting a vibe of the various trends du jour and lusting after this season's must have fashion and beauty pieces. So I've decided to create a new series called The Lust List, which is basically going to share with you which hot items I can't take my eyes off no matter how hard I try; items that I need right now in my life and would be willing to sell my soul for to make that happen - or at least empty my bank account. This Lust List is going to focus on the latest fashion and beauty must haves from the new A/W 2013 collections - hot off the press and a few clicks away from being in my wardrobe. Not sure whether this series will be a good or bad thing for my bank accounts, having all my lust-haves in one place could be very tempting indeed!

Starting Off: Concealer

I hoped you all enjoyed my first installment of #theSOproject last week on Skincare, I'm now bringing you the latest part of the project which is all about concealers! As teenagers we've all had to endure breakouts and waking up to huge, angry, embarrassing spots that we'd wish would disappear before we headed off to school or college. Even now, we still strive to have blemish free skin and to cover up any imperfections that may appear due to stress, being run down or a sleepless night. For both teenagers and adults, concealers can be our best friends as a quick fix to perfect our skin, a little bit of concealer in the right places can be a great confidence booster, especially for young teenagers experiencing spots for the first time. My concealer collection at the minute is shockingly bad due to a clear out to get rid of old products, so at the minute I only have one, and it's a pretty basic concealer at that! So I am going to share with you concealers I have used over the past few years and the best way to use them for different skin blemishes and imperfections.
