The Christmas Haul // What I got for Chrismtas

I've seen many bloggers share what they received for Christmas in a haul post, so I thought I would do one of my own! Considering I'm getting old, I think I've done pretty well this year and got some really lovely things; I think now I'm a bit older I really love to give people presents and see them make people happy, so I do tend to go a bit crazy when buying things for others! I didn't really have anything specific that I wanted to get, I'm so indecisive and I don't like it to look like I was expecting a big pile of different presents, I've probably mentioned a few things over the past few months but never expected to get them! If you follow me on Twitter, you will probably know a few of the presents that I got, but here is a full list of the presents I received this year.

Outfit Of The Day // 25th December

Hello everyone and I hope you've had a very merry Christmas and you've had a lovely time with all your loved ones! I for one was actually looking forward to Christmas this year as it was the first time in 3 years I've been able to spend longer than a day at home! For the past few years I worked for Next up in Manchester and of course had to work the dreaded Next sale, though I wasn't allowed to transfer to Leicester stores to be close to home for Christmas (100+ miles away from my normal store) and was given the ultimatum of either finding a way to travel up to Manchester (may also add no trains on boxing day as well, so had to be driven up) or losing my job, but hey ho lets not get into that now. This year on my placement I have nearly 2 weeks off from work! I really don't know what to do with myself with all this free time! I won't be looking forward to going back to retail next year that's for sure! But my mum and dad are overjoyed that I'm living with them for the year whilst on placement and especially happy that I'm here over Christmas as well, so that's the main thing that I get to spend some time with them.

This year for Christmas we decided to have a bit of fun and the girls had to wear a Christmas onesie and the boys had to wear Christmas jumpers! I for one wasn't going to complain about spending the whole day in pjs. My onesie is from Primark, I'm not sure how much it was as my mum brought it for me but I'm guessing it's around the £10 mark. Mine was bright red with a white fair isle print all over it, so it looked very festive indeed. The material had a waffle weave texture to it and was very comfortable, the only downside is all the buttons you have to undo and redo when needing the loo, it would have been a lot more practical with poppers! Although it was my size, it was literally like a tent on me, I'm 5'8" so I'm hardly small but it was like it had a drop crotch and was very baggy on my body and legs, it could have easily fit someone probably half a foot taller than me! If you get one of these onesies, it suggest going a size smaller than you normally would.

Although my outfit was pretty low key and I just wore my onesie with some slipper boots I got last year, I decided to have a full face of make up with a bold eye and lip, after all it is Christmas. I also put Sleep In Rollers in my hair the night before just to add some volume and a bit of a wave to my hair, I'll have to do a full review of them at some point to show you properly.

What did you go for for your Christmas day outfit, dressed to the nines or casual and comfy like me?

Amie xx

Beauty Haul // Elf Cosmetics (+ swatches)

I am a sucker for trying new brands and new products, I just can't stick to the same products and colours - variety is the spice of life after all! You can never have enough make up products - especially for eyes, lips and nails, I love being able to completely transform your look just by swapping for a different colour. So when I saw on Twitter that ELF were hosting a 50% off sale a couple of weeks back, I just couldn't resist having a look at their massive range of products! Personally I had never bought anything from ELF before, but I had seen good things from other beauty bloggers, so I thought that during the 50% off sale would be the ideal opportunity to try the brand out!

Until I looked on the website, I didn't actually realise how affordable the prices were and that was without the 50% off on top! With this in mind and the fact that as a student I can't resist  a good bargain, I did go a *little* bit crazy and bought a wide range of different make up products to try out. I didn't realise how much I had actually bought until a massive cardboard box arrived for me packed full of make up! I just kept pulling out more and more, it was just never ending, I couldn't believe I got so much - £60 worth of make up products for just £30! And to make it even better I also got free delivery, double score! I'm going to share with you my first ELF haul purchases below and my first impressions on the products.

Battle of the Christmas Ads: Debenhams 'Wishes Made Fabulous'

This week seems to have been THE week to release Christmas adverts, they all seem to have come at once in a whirl of stylish clothing and decadent food. Literally within the same ad break that Marks and Spencer released their Christmas campaign to the masses, Debenhams also debuted their Christmas campaign 'Wishes Made Fabulous'. After their massive return to Christmas campaigns last year with 'Christmas Made Fabulous'; the story of a woman's stylish journey home for Christmas in THAT red coat - which inevitably became their best selling coat of all time, Debenhams new advert echoes the theme of coming together for Christmas with the journey of a couple reuniting in time for the festive season.

Battle of the Christmas Ads: Marks & Spencer's 'Magic and Sparkle'

When it comes to November, it's only a matter of time before the C word is on everyones lips and constantly pops up wherever we go - whether that be out and about or in the comfort of our own home; there is no escape, Christmas is officially on it's way! During the build up to the festive season, brands begin to pull out their big Christmas campaigns to showcase the best of what they have to offer this season whilst connecting emotionally with the audience to create a buzz around their campaigns and generate sales in the run up to Christmas.

The first of the Christmas adverts are already starting to filter through onto our screens and in store and there's lots of anticipation for what certain brands are going to do to stand out to us. I love advertisements at Christmas, I feel this is when brands really push the boat out with their marketing and create their best and most original campaigns - unsurprisingly really as this is the most lucrative time of year for most if not all businesses!

One of the most anticipated Christmas ads year on year has to be Marks & Spencer's. Big stars have featured in their clothing adverts for as long as I can remember; from the days of the supermodel M&S featuring the likes of Twiggy, Erin O'Conner, Lily Cole and Noemie Lenoir (The one who was ALWAYS in her undies) enjoying all Christmas has to offer in the latest collection of clothing to featuring the X Factor finalists that updated each week to include those still in the competition.

This year hasn't changed and now features the beautiful Rosie Huntington Whitely, Helena Bonham Carter and the gorgeous as ever David Gandy depicting different characters throughout the advert. Rosie and David are a wise choice as Rosie's not only models but designed her own underwear collection for M&S - which is their fastest selling of time and David is currently the face of M&S' premium Collezione range.

100 Bloglovin' followers Giveaway

Hello everyone, last week I finally hit my first milestone of 100 followers on Bloglovin'! I was so excited to hit my first milestone, it means so much to me that there are people out there enjoying my blog and taking the time to follow me and keep coming back! I know I haven't been very consistent with blog posts lately as I've been busy with my placement during the week, so I haven't had as much free time to blog if I've had things to do at the weekend as well. So, it means even more to me that all you lovely bloggers are still supporting me and Fashion Is Our Religion.

So to celebrate and to thank my followers, I've decided to host my first giveaway! I've bought a range of make up products that are ideal for A/W. Think bold graphic make up in deep vampy colours which will be perfect for a rocky and dramatic make up look. I've chosen products from some of my favourite make up brands which I have had experience with using myself and loved, so I hope you love them just as much!

Starting off: Eyeliner

Another week, another #theSOproject post! it's getting near to the end now and I can't believe it! It only feels like yesterday that we were starting the project and now there is only a couple of weeks left! Along with mascara, eyeliner is one of my favourite products to wear, I just love having really bold, defined eyes and a flick of eyeliner can work wonders on your whole look. My everyday look is basically all about the eyes; I love wearing jet black eyeliner over my eyelid and having long fluttery eyelashes on top. Considering eye make up is what I really focus on, I don't really wear eyeshadow, I'll probably have a neutral base of eyeshadow before applying eyeliner, but that's about it really.

Eyeliner is probably one of the hardest make up products to use, you need nerves of steel to stop your hands shaking and your oh-so-even line going to pot and smudging. It also takes a lot of practise to make sure your eyes look even and eyeliner on one eye doesn't look thicker/thinner than the other. But we have all been there, and in time you will get the hang of it.

I'm going to share with you my eyeliner collection, the different types of eyeliner that I own and the best way to apply each type. As I've said before, I am no expert so don't take my word as gospel, each person develops their own way that they think is best. There are so many different ways to wear eyeliner and it will take me forever to go into detail! whether you like bold and dramatic or minimal, the fun is experimenting with all these different looks yourself, and once you can apply basic eyeliner it's easy to build it up then into something more complex.

Girl Meets Dress Collaboration - Party Season Cocktail Dresses

It's coming up to that time of year again, the C word is fast approaching and that means family get togethers, Christmas dos at work and toasting to the new year in style! Yes, it won't be long until the party season is well and truly upon us and finding outfits for all of these different occasions on top of mad dashes up and down the high street for gifts and planning a feast for the five thousand can be stressful as well as very expensive! But don't worry! your fairy god mother is here in the form of Girl Meets Dress and you shall go to the ball in style.

Leicester Bloggers Meet-up - Highcross' Autumn Fashion FIx

Last weekend, I attended my first ever blogger's meet-up in Leicester, which was organised by the lovely Hareem. To say I was nervous was an understatement! I really didn't know what to expect or how I would react when meeting a group of people I had never met in real life before; as someone who is quite shy and a bit awkward around people I don't really know I was panicking a little that I would make a fool of myself. But I bit the proverbial bullet and decided to attend; and looking back, I really don't know why I was panicking so much, it was such a lovely day and I met some really nice fellow bloggers! As I have recently moved back to Leicester for my placement it was nice to find some local bloggers that have similar interests to me, I didn't realise there would be so many of us and it was nice to be able to attend something local rather than everything being held in London and not being able to go.

Starting Off: Mascara

I am trying really hard to get back on track with #theSOproject, I just seem to have been so busy once again! But alas, only a day late this week so I'm definitely improving; I'm hoping to organise myself a lot better and post more frequently, I have a few ideas up my sleeve so I hope you'll be looking forward to seeing more of my posts.

This week is one of my favourite make-up products of all time - mascara. I will wear it every time I leave the house, once I was in a rush and I forgot to put it on before work and I felt lost without it and was even considering dashing out and buying a new mascara during my lunch break I was that desperate! Out of anything else, I love having bold eye make-up the most and having a good mascara is definitely a factor in making your eyes appear brighter and more awake.

Starting Off: Bronzer

I seem to be running a week behind on #theSOproject lately! Though I do have a good excuse this time as I was prepping for my surprise trip to London that was organised by my lovely boyfriend for my birthday present! I got the train down on Thursday and met him at St Pancras where he whisked me away to a lovely 4* hotel where we got upgraded to an executive room! Another part of my surprise was tickets to see Phantom of the Opera on Friday night, which was absolutely mind blowing! The rest of the time was spent sight seeing, shopping on Oxford St and generally wandering around taking in the atmosphere, it was a lovely trip and I can't believe he managed to keep it all a secret from me! Maybe I'll do a proper blog post on it with a few of my pictures.

Anyway, back to business! We have already covered Concealer and Foundation in previous weeks, which help to create an even canvas, Bronzer is then used to add shadow and contours to your face, as well as a lovely sun-kissed glow. As someone with dreadfully pale skin, I like to use bronzer to add some colour to my face and help to define my round completely undefined face! I do wish I had natural killer cheekbones, but at least with bronzer I can fake them a little!

Now you can get different types of bronzers, with different shades to suit different skin tones - also some are shimmery and some are matte. Now matte bronzers and shimmery bronzers are used to achieve different looks, so I'm going to go into what they are used for and how they are applied in a little more detail - each with an example of bronzers that I currently own.

Starting Off: Foundation

It's week 4 of #theSOproject and this is going to be a double bill as I have been incredibly busy and didn't have time to finish my foundation post from last week! So this will be my first post this week for last weeks edition and then there will be this weeks regular post as well! We are a few weeks into the project now and it's been fantastic so far to talk with the bloggers who are taking part and to find other opinions and reviews on different products that I know and some that I don't! It's really opened my eyes to how broad the spectrum of beauty products is and convinced me I should be more open to try products and brands that I haven't gone for before. Last time I touched upon concealers and this week I am going to build upon this and talk about foundations.

Foundations are a make-up basic and help to cover flaws, improve the look of skin quality and to create an even complexion. There are many different foundations with varying levels of coverage and are suited to different skin types. In recent years, Primers, BB and CC creams have been developed to further perfect the skin's appearance and these can be worn underneath foundation so that foundation's have an even surface to be applied to or they can be worn by themselves for a light coverage and a quick fix to improve the look of complexions. I am going to share with you my collection of foundations, primers, BB and CC creams, their different levels of coverage, suitability for skin types and what different factors they aim to provide to a consumer.

Necklace - Boohoo £6

I can't believe it's been so long since I've done an outfit of the day post! I seem to have been so busy lately, I think working full time is taking it's toll and when I get home I don't really feel like I look particularly great! And this is the first weekend in a month that I haven't had to do anything, I've been to V festival and then up to Manchester the past 2 weekends running - one for a girls night out and one to celebrate mine and my boyfriend's 2 year anniversary with an amazing weekend at the Hilton in Deansgate and dinner at Rio Ferdinand's restaurant Rosso  - I've been a very busy bee!  I literally haven't had any down time to really focus on my blog, as you have probably noticed the lack of posts when compared to July, I'm really going to try and organise myself better and schedule some posts for when I know I'm going to be busy.

Anyway, back to the outfit; this weekend has been absolute bliss as I haven't had to do anything or go anywhere; plus it was my first time in over a month I have been able to have a lie in so I feel nice and relaxed. Even though I have been around the house all day, I really wanted an excuse to wear my brand new ASOS skort, so I thought I'd dress up for the hell of it!

I really am loving the skort at the minute - and so does the rest of the bloggersphere! The skort has become the surprising cult item in recent months. I saw this one on ASOS and I just loved the colour, I seem to buy a lot of this dark pink colour - I have some tailored trousers in the exact same colour so I knew I had quite a few garments that would match with it. I have had the blouse for about 6 months but I haven't really worn it for a while, but I think it goes well with this skort, I think it would make a suitable look for work as well. I'm also thinking of wearing this blouse with my white Zara skort and new white jacket to try a more chic and polished look. I've had my cut out boots a few weeks now and you rarely see me out of them! The heel is quite small, so I can last the whole day in them comfortably and they bring any outfit up to date with the cut out straps. Until I can afford Jeffrey Campbells I'll be sticking with these bad boys.

These midi rings from ASOS are a new addition to my jewellery collection and I really do love them, even though they only fit on my ring and little fingers! Even though I bought the bigger size, I can't get them much further past the nails on my other fingers - sigh! Maybe I should try the ASOS Curve rings as I must have bigger than average fingers, though I'm pretty sure they aren't that big? I dunno. This necklace from Boohoo is one I bought a few weeks ago and is my latest statement necklace. I love anything geometric and I like to wear this one under collars or just over the top of the neckline to add some extra detailing to an outfit.

What do you think of my latest outfit post, would you like to see more of my outfits? If people would like to see more I would try my best to post some more!

Amie xx

The Lust List #1

Untitled #6
Window shopping has to be one of my favourite past times, I adore poring over the latest collections, getting a vibe of the various trends du jour and lusting after this season's must have fashion and beauty pieces. So I've decided to create a new series called The Lust List, which is basically going to share with you which hot items I can't take my eyes off no matter how hard I try; items that I need right now in my life and would be willing to sell my soul for to make that happen - or at least empty my bank account. This Lust List is going to focus on the latest fashion and beauty must haves from the new A/W 2013 collections - hot off the press and a few clicks away from being in my wardrobe. Not sure whether this series will be a good or bad thing for my bank accounts, having all my lust-haves in one place could be very tempting indeed!

Starting Off: Concealer

I hoped you all enjoyed my first installment of #theSOproject last week on Skincare, I'm now bringing you the latest part of the project which is all about concealers! As teenagers we've all had to endure breakouts and waking up to huge, angry, embarrassing spots that we'd wish would disappear before we headed off to school or college. Even now, we still strive to have blemish free skin and to cover up any imperfections that may appear due to stress, being run down or a sleepless night. For both teenagers and adults, concealers can be our best friends as a quick fix to perfect our skin, a little bit of concealer in the right places can be a great confidence booster, especially for young teenagers experiencing spots for the first time. My concealer collection at the minute is shockingly bad due to a clear out to get rid of old products, so at the minute I only have one, and it's a pretty basic concealer at that! So I am going to share with you concealers I have used over the past few years and the best way to use them for different skin blemishes and imperfections.

Hello all, you may have seen on Twitter already that there is a brand new blogger project that has been started by the lovely Steph over at Steph's Inside Voice. The Starting Off Project aims for bloggers to get involved and share their experiences and usage of different beauty products every week as part of a 10 week series. These posts will hopefully help people who are new to using beauty products or to those who are just looking for some beauty tips and to discover new products! When I saw Steph's tweets, I knew I had to get involved with this and at the moment there are 120 bloggers that are part of the project! I know it's going to be amazing to see everyone's recommendations and experiences with different products.

Last weekend I went to V Festival for the first time! I haven't really been to a proper festival before, a few years ago I went to Parklife for the day as it was literally in the park a couple of hours from my Uni halls in Manchester, but that's the most experience of a festival I've had! I was especially excited to land tickets for this as me and my friends *finally* got to see our idol Beyonce, earlier this year we had 5 computers on the go trying to apply for tickets for her tour but didn't get anywhere, so the fact we got to see Beyonce amongst many other great acts was very exciting for us!

Boots Beauty Haul, Make Up Haul, Haircare, Beauty Tools, Drugstore Haul

Hey Girls! Now if you follow me on twitter (@Fashion_IOR), you will have seen that I mentioned doing a mega Boots haul the other week, I don't know what I've been doing all this time to be only posting this now, I seem to be getting distracted by all these blogger chats in the evenings! Anyway better late than never. This must be the one of the biggest shopping sprees I've done in Boots since going on holiday, but it was my first full time pay day for my placement year, so I thought I'd just go for it! Boots is one of my favourite places to shop in, I just love finding all the new products and trying them out, I'm literally like a kid in a candy store! I could spend hours at all the make up counters and poring over the shiny bottles of hair products and I think I get excited at the prospect of finding a new look. I can safely say I'm probably stocked up for a while, though I'm sure I'll see something new and sparkly soon and I'll be totting up the Advantage points once again!

And the Leibster award goes to..

Hello all! Over the weekend I was lucky enough to be nominated not once, but twice for the Leibster blog award! I was nominated by Stylish England and KAYLALISCIOUS and I'm so appreciative as it's brilliant to know that people are actually reading my blog posts and liking what I write, as a new blogger it's great to know I'm on the right track and people recognise the time and effort that I put into my blog.

The Leibster Award is a blog award to give recognition to new and upcoming bloggers with less than 200 followers. If you are nominated, you then nominate 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers to spread the love amongst new bloggers. It can be hard starting out in the saturated blogging world so this award helps to encourage people to keep doing what they do!

Fashion Haul // ASOS

ASOS Fashion Haul, ASOS Shopping, Online Shopping, Haul Post

Hello all! Once again I have let go of the purse strings and done another online shop - somebody really needs to block my bank accounts, all I seem to have done lately is shop, maybe it's because it was my first full time pay day recently or maybe it's just because I have no self control, I don't know - maybe a bit of a combination of the two! But yes, I have been naughty and bought some new clothes from ASOS, I have only purchased off ASOS once before, I am one of those people who likes to try before they buy and with ASOS being a pureplayer obviously I can't do that, but I thought I'd give it a go as I do love the clothes on their website and I always have the option to return them for free if they didn't suit me.

I bought a mixture items that won't necessarily be worn together, but I wanted some wardrobe staples as well as a few patterned statement pieces. I had double the amount that I bought in my original basket, so I did have *some* restraint, but I may always go back- especially as I recently won a £20 ASOS voucher for this post on how to get your wardrobe for less! This was my first EVER blog competition entry and I was so pleased to be a runner up in this contest, hopefully I'll have the chance to enter more and see if my lucky streak continues! Anyway I'll stop waffling and show you what I bought in my latest fashion haul.

Fashion Blogger Outfit Of The Day, What I Wore Today, River Island Outfit Of The Day, Warehouse Outfit Of The Day, River Island Crop Top, Warehouse Maxi Skirt, Next Sandals,

Hello all! Looks like the traditional British weather is back with a vengeance! Though it is quite nice for a change for it to not be humid and sticky, if only it could be dry as well! These photos were taken at the weekend - luckily when the weather was still holding out. I went on a shopping trip with my mum to Leicester to return a few things and for a general look around - I must admit I had to force myself to put a Reiss skirt that was still £50 in the sale back down. We then went for a late lunch and cocktails at Coast to Coast - an American restaurant and bar. We had never been there before, but the food and drinks were gorgeousssss - a special mention for the red berry cheesecake cocktail, it literally tasted so real!

Hello all! As you may have already seen, I did an Ebay beauty haul detailing all my lovely beauty and make up bargains that I had picked up since joining the world of Ebay a couple of weeks ago. I am now going to show you all my fashion bargains! There are quite a few as I get a bit over excited bidding on things, I get the mentality that I *have* to win if I like something, but anyway I think I've found some real gems and I'd definitely continue shopping on the website.

Ebay beauty haul, make up haul, clinique make up, clinique beauty products, max factor lip gloss, maybelline lip stain

Hello lovelies! So as some of you know, I have recently joined the world of Ebay and I must say in the two weeks I have been a member I have become hooked! I love the excitement of bidding on an item and grabbing a bargain - and boy have I got some bargains so far! I am going to share with you what I have won so far and I am going to split it into several posts as I have got quite a bit (I must admit I did get a bit trigger happy with the bidding :p) This post is going to be dedicated to my beauty and make-up purchases, I thought it was a great way to try different products without having to fork out full price for them, so if you have something you want in particular it is really easy to search; there is everything from high street to designer branded make up and everything in between, and you can get many things for way under face value!

Trend // Summer Style And The City

Unless you have moved to the Arctic recently, you will have noticed it has been hot, hot hot! We have had weeks of basking in the sun, firing up the BBQ and making the most of the weather whilst we still can. It has been an excuse to get our pasty English skin on show and finally get the chance to wear the latest summer trends; perfectly fine for when we're lazing around in beer gardens or local parks, but how do you survive the heat when in a professional environment?

We can't exactly turn up to the office in our latest crop top and denim shorts; yes it might be trendy, and yes it's too hot to wear proper clothes but I'm sure your boss will not approve of your lack of clothing. It's very hard for 9-5ers to find a happy medium between looking smart but staying cool in weather like this, especially in cramped, humid offices with air conditioning about as useful as a chocolate teapot; but fortunately Next has a go to collection for fashionable and slick summer work clothing that will help you survive the city heatwave in the latest styles

We made it guys, it's finally the weekend! I definitely had that Friday feeling which was made even better when I was allowed to leave work an hour early - score! It seems like I have so much on my to-do list over the weekend so I hope I don't get distracted by the prospect of spending all day in the sun.

In my opinion, a girl can never have too many shoes! There are so many styles, heights colours and textures; we are spoilt for choice when it comes to picking our footwear and there is something for every occasion and event possible. I recently came across Daniel Footwear, which is a boutique that provides on trend and stylish footwear and accessories. Featuring labels such as UGG, Chloe, Michael Kors, Hunter and the own Daniel brand to name a few, there is an extensive collection available at highly competitive prices - check out what's available here

I think a girl should own at least one of each of the main styles of the season to compliment the varying trends and I have devised my own wishlist of the top styles available on Daniel Footwear as part of the blogger competition. (If you would like to enter as well I will detail what you need to do at the end of my post)

Outfit Of The Day // 17th July

Hello guys! Another day of melting in paradise, I definitely would like a heatwave better if I had a pool/beach within walking distance rather than a desk! - A cocktail or a bottle of Kopparberg would do nicely as well. I have once again got my legs out in the hope of them getting just a smidge of colour, but alas no joy so far, you wouldn't think I've been to Mexico recently!

Hello lovelies! Oh my goodness when I mentioned the weather in last week's posts, I had no idea it would have lasted this long! Or even that it's looking like we've got another week of this heatwave - brilliant! well.. not so brilliant when you are stuck in a stuffy office 9-5 during the week with no air con. I just hope the weather lasts another weekend.

How To Get Your Wardrobe For Less!

Like me, I'm sure a lot of you are students wishing your money would stretch that little bit further! I always lust after the latest must have items and I wish I could justify spending large amounts of money that I should really leave in my bank account. So when I find similar items that has a student friendly price tag I just can't resist!

As students, although as much as we like to believe, we don't have unlimited money to spend on clothing but we don't always see the difference between needing something and wanting something, especially when there is so much temptation living away from home and retailers trying to entice us to spend. Thankfully I've become a lot more savvy since starting University; I determine whether I *really* need something to avoid impulse buying something that I will never wear as well as researching online to find the look I want for the best value for money. I've made a list of the best websites that will help you get the style you want for a lot less than you thought!

Outfit Of The Day // 7th July

Hi all! what a day! Not only was it gorgeous weather once again, Andy Murray smashed it and became the first Brit to win at Wimbledon since Fred Perry 77 years ago. So yes, my day consisted of watching the tennis down in my parent's pub as well as raiding Tesco for any BBQ related food so we could have a BBQ feast out in the sun with a few cheeky drinks! I'm so glad I'm in a 9-5 job on my placement as I get to fully enjoy the weekends, when I worked in retail I worked most weekends as well as being in Uni most of the week, so I really appreciate the free time I have now to do whatever I want for the year! I chose this outfit as it was loose fitting and casual, though after a while I did have to take the gilet off as it was just too warm; it seemed to be hotter in my house than outside!

Outfit Of The Day // 6th July

Hello all! I hope you are all taking advantage of this fabulous weather we are experiencing; looks like summer is finally here! Knowing England though this will be our only bout of sunshine for the rest of the summer. As I am now working full time as a Buying Assistant, my only free time is at the weekend, so I certainly wanted to be out in the sun whilst I could! I chose this outfit as it was light and airy as well as being very summery, perfect for lunch with my dad and spending some of the evening in the beer garden with my mum (my parents run and live above a country pub, I know it's a student's dream to live in a pub :p).

Haute Right Now // Part II

I hope you all like my first installment of 'Haute right now' featuring Versace, Christian Dior, Giambatista Valli and Chanel's couture collections from this week. I'm going to continue with the capsule reviews of the collections that were featured later on in the week and I hope you like looking at them as much as I do! Couture really excites me and I would die happy if I ever got to wear an outfit as magnificent as some of the ones featured, a girl can dream!

Haute Right Now // Part I

Couture Fashion Week has to be my favourite time in the fashion calendar, I could spend hours poring over all the pictures of the most beautiful and theatrical garments that shock and stir people's emotions. When I designed at college I would always look at the fashion juggernauts for inspiration  and I would always be drawn to the couture shows and my mind would be buzzing with creativity; excited to experiment and not be afraid to break the limits. I guess I'm a bit of a magpie, I love anything that shimmers and sparkles and excites my senses. Everyone loves a bit of drama and extravagance, couture is not realistic but it causes people to dream and fantasise. I couldn't wait to get some free time and start looking through the latest couture collections,  in particular Elie Saab's, which has been my favourite for the past few seasons.

Review // L'Oreal Steam Pod

Hello guys! I have a real treat for you today, if you suffer from thick, frizzy or lacklustre hair and can't go a day without your GHDs or will protect your hair at all costs against the elements then this could be your hair saviour and THE END of bad hair days!

Now a bit of my hair background, I have suffered from chronically frizzy hair for the majority of my life, you wouldn't believe I had hardly any hair until I was 3 or 4! My hair is mid length but ultra thick. Now it wouldn't be a problem to have thick hair if it was naturally straight or curly, but unfortunately (as you will soon see, gulp!), mine is a cross between Monica from Friends when she goes to Barbados, Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries and Chewbacca.

Every time I wash my hair, I will probably spend 20 minutes washing, 20 minutes drying and 70 minutes straightening, if I want to curl my hair I have to straighten first then curl, so add another 60 minutes on top. That's up to 3 hours to wash and style my hair!!! Now I have better things to do with my time then have to go through this process 2 times a week, so the amount of time I spend doing my hair is ridiculous and laborious! I'm always envious of people who have naturally beautiful hair that's never out of place when I spend hours doing mine for it to go fluffy and horrible at the slightest hint of rain or humidity, which usually results in me touching up my hair with my GHDs every day.

I thought GHDs were the best thing I would ever get for my hair, don't get me wrong they are good, but I have to use them so much my hair looks over processed and as my boyfriend always says 'has a burnt hair smell'. As my hair is so thick it can handle the heat, but it just doesn't look nice, smooth and glossy.

My latest trip to the hairdressers resulted me sitting having my hair blow dried within an inch of it's life, producing so much smoke and steam they had to open the fire doors to prevent the alarms going off (a regular embarrassment for me). The owner of the salon came over to me and said 'instead of going through all this, would you like to try the steam pod treatment?' Now, you might be asking yourself 'what the hell is a steam pod?'

Outfit Of The Day // 1st July

Hello lovely readers! I hope you all had a lovely sunny weekend, we're being treated in the Midlands with another nice day, not as hot as yesterday but I'm not complaining as I'm accustomed to the constant rain of Manchester!

I was due to start my placement today but I was given the day off as they are relocating their offices to a bigger building, this now means I will only have to travel 10 minutes to work rather than half an hour which I won't be complaining about! I can't wait to see the new building tomorrow and get started with my placement year as a buyer's assistant.

Today was a more casual day than I was expecting but it was nice to have today off to settle in a bit more to my new surroundings. So today's outfit reflects my laid back day of running errands with my mum in town, grocery shopping and walking our Shar-Pei Toby down the park.

As it was a little milder today, I opted for some black tights and my leather jacket to throw on top, though I had to take it off a few times when the sun popped out! I seem to be paying tribute to America today with my converse and American flag on my t-shirt

Top from Gap - Shorts £28 Topshop - Tights £3 Primark - Sneakers from Converse - Necklace £5 Dorothy Perkins

(I don't have prices for some items as I've had them a while and they are no longer on sale)

Outfit Of The Day // 30th June

I thought I would start to post some of the outfits that I wear to showcase my own style and influences. I have invested quite a bit in a holiday wardrobe as well as a working wardrobe for my upcoming placement, so I have lots of lovely new clothes to show you all!

As you may have noticed, I recently went on holiday to Mexico (see post here), so you will see that my outfit is inspired quite a bit by the Aztec trend! I apologise for the camera quality, I resorted to using my IPhone as my camera is still packed somewhere from moving house on Friday!

Today it was nice and sunny, so it was any excuse to spend time in the garden and try to extend my tan for a little longer! This outfit is cool and casual, perfect for Sundays in the sunshine.

Top £9.99 New Look - Skirt £22 Miss Selfridge - Shoes £12 New Look - Necklace £10 Next - Bracelets $4 from Mexico

Travel // Viva la Mexico!

As an end of exams treat, Me, My boyfriend John and my housemates decided to book a holiday once we had all finished our summer exams; 3 out of the 6 of us going were in final year of Uni, so not only was this celebrating the end of exams, but also the end of Uni life and one of the last times we will all be together for a while. So of course we had to go out with a bang and go to Cancun, the party capital of Mexico!

It was a fortnight of sunbathing, sightseeing, cocktails and partying! Mexico really is beautiful so we not only wanted to experience the nightlife, but also the culture that Mexico has to offer.

We stayed at the Gran Caribe Real Hotel, it was in a perfect location right on the sandy white beach, only 30 minutes away from the Airport (which after a 10 hour flight is such a relief!), plus it was only a 15 minute walk away from the shopping centre one way and the strip of bars and clubs the other way. Even though our room was the most basic available, it was more than big enough for me and John! The bed probably could have fit 3-4 people comfortably, you could stretch your arm out and not reach the other. The view was incredible, our balcony overlooked the lagoon which is where the sun  set and it was absolutely breathtaking. The beach was a stone's throw away; it was one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen, pure white sand and the bluest ocean I had ever seen, it was absolutely gorgeous, if a little wavy!
